Carcinogens. What does WHO listing show?

by | Jun 18, 2020

International Agency for Research on Cancer (an organ of WHO) lists certain natural products, foods and chemicals as having cancer causing potential.

What most do not know is that the list also includes the following:

  1. Alcohol
  2. Aluminum production
  3. Leather dust
  4. Wood dust
  5. Outdoor air pollution
  6. Night shift work
  7. Petroleum refining (occupational exposure)
  8. Hairdresser (occupational exposure)
  9. Dry cleaning (occupational exposure)

Surprised? Shocked? This is only a representative list.

Opening of liquor shops after the lockdown witnessed chaotic scenes in many states.

What is the size of India’s alcohol drinks market?

According to the London based research group IWSR, India’s alcohol drinks market is worth $ 27.2 bn (over Rs. 2 lakh crores). This is larger than the market for pharmaceuticals in India..!

The irrational fears about cancers (and chemicals) would vanish if we look at the full list…. which includes leaf extract of Aloe Vera too…!
